I Purchase Things On Line
I know that it can seem unsafe to make a purchase on line, but you don't have to worry about that.
At first I was really reluctant to do it. Now that I live in Mexico, purchasing on line is often my only choice to pay for certain items and services and I've become completely comfortable with it. When you come to live or retire in Mexico watch how fast you come to do all your banking and other business in the U.S. and Canada on line!
I personally use two different methods. Sometimes I use my credit card and other times I use my PayPal account. Both payment methods are completely secure and easy to do. I describe the advantages of each below. (Remember, this is just MY OPINION, and NOT endorsed by any on line banking company. If you want to read THEIR words, find them on line.)
Actually, one of the great things about ClickBank is that they provide the services that would help both you and I if you were to have any kind of a problem with your purchase.
When you go through the purchase process ClickBank only asks for your zip code and an email address in addition to your credit card number, PayPal info, or check number.
When you make purchases on line there is some computer magic called "encryption" that makes your information impossible to read except by the computer that is supposed to read the information (It's the only one that is wearing the decoder ring.)
When ClickBank sends me an e-mail telling me of your purchase it does NOT give me your credit card number, bank account number, your telephone number, nor address. It gives me a code number for that transaction that I can use if you need some kind of customer service.
PayPal
The advantage to using PayPal is that you don't have to pay it back, like a credit card. When you sign up for your PayPal account, you specify an account to which your PayPal account is "electonically connected" (my words, not those of PayPal.) PayPal is VERY secure and there are a variety of steps that you go through to be sure that you are really the one who you say you are, etc. Then, when you make on line purchases, the payment comes from real money and is completed on the spot. PayPal sends you an email immediately so that you will always know about any transactions that go through your account.
Credit Card
The advantage to using a credit card is that you don't have to have another account. You just have to remember to pay your credit card bill on time!
On line Check
The online check is a withdrawl from any normal checking account--it just happens more slowly than a regular withdrawl. The online check order form requires that the numbers along the bottom of your check be entered in two separate fields; the first field is for the digits between |: and |: , and the field below it is for your account number, the digits to left of ||' . Do not enter all of the numbers on the bottom of your check into one box! Next, there is a confirmation box, which requests that the account number be entered backwards. This is for the account number only (i.e. the digits to left of ||'). Remember that ClickBank doesn't give me or anyone else these numbers.
